A dynamic new identity for Downtown NYC’s largest art supporter.

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council

Founded as Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, LMCC serves, connects, and makes space for artists and community. Since 1973, LMCC has been the quiet champion for independent artists in New York City and the cultural life force of Lower Manhattan.

In September 2019, LMCC opened the newly renovated LMCC's Arts Center at Governors Island. The Arts Center is the first permanent home for artists and audiences on Governors Island, featuring Artist Residency Programs with studio and presenting space for artists to develop their work, and a broad range of events to convene artists and the public in an exchange of ideas and creative practices.

To coincide with the Arts Center’s opening, and to reposition LMCC as a fresh and relevant institution, Studio Cornelius conceived and designed a new identity.
